Really?  With them? – Rev William Orr

Can you imagine the scene as Jesus walked through villages with those who had followed him?  The group dynamic consisted of those who were outside popular norms, those whose flaws in character and social stature were so obvious they were used as a weapon to attack Jesus.  In this sermon, Rev William Orr considers the example that Jesus set for us.  Are we open to the message of the Gospel?  Are we open to others being open to the message of the Gospel?  Or, are there those in our society that we treat like Zacchaeus – whose inclusion by Jesus caused outrage to many who thought he was beyond salvation.  When we see God’s mercy reaching out to those who are in need of it, do we rejoice with them or do we question it and ask ‘really?  with them?’.
