As we start our Lent series, Rev Lucy Burden outlines the context for this teaching series. In this sermon we thought about the ways we are called to return to the lord. With a sense of urgency and through an act of repentance.
Our step back to the Lord begins with a sense of urgency. In the book of Joel we see the message that is sent to the people of Israel, where they have continued to turn from God. This message has a sense of urgency but is coupled with an act of repentance. God’s invitation to return is also a call to change your heart. In this sermon, Rev Lucy asks to consider the rituals that we follow that give no pleasure to God; and how they compare to His restorative power over our brokenness.
